Statement of Job:

The Marketing & Operations Manager will design, implement, manage and execute logistical operations and marketing across the Atlanta Music Project’s divisions of AMP Orchestra, AMPlify Choir, AMP Academy, AMP Summer Series and central office. This includes managing operations related to recruitment, concert production, transportation, instrument management, inventory, as well as student and teaching artist records. The job’s marketing component will shape the brand and voice of the organization. This position reports to the AMP Executive Director.

General Responsibilities:

  • Understand and represent the AMP philosophies for uplifting youths, families and communities through the pursuit of musical excellence
  • Manage the Operations Assistant
  • Design and implement operational processes that increase efficiency and decrease risk and liability
  • Manage and develop the Atlanta Music Project brand

Operations Responsibilities (60%):

  • In collaboration with AMP Senior Staff, design an AMP-wide operations manual
  • In collaboration with AMP site leaders, execute student recruitment drives throughout the year
  • In collaboration with AMP program staff, manage and execute flawless production of AMP Orchestra and AMPlify concerts, including planning of safe and secure transportation of students
  • Manage and execute the safe and secure upkeep of all student and teaching artist records
  • Track organizational expenses, including producing regular expense reports; manage purchasing for AMP programs
  • Manage AMP’s inventory of instruments, materials and office supplies
  • Recruit and manage small teams of AMP Interns, Music Mentors and volunteers as needed
  • Manage onboarding process for contractors and staff
  • Manage and execute payroll submission and processing for contractors and guest artists
  • Participate in regular meetings with AMP Senior Staff as needed
  • Continually analyze AMP’s current operations for areas of improvement
  • Manage overall operation and maintenance of company vehicle
  • Execute additional logistical and operational tasks as necessary
  • Execute additional administrative tasks as necessary

Marketing Responsibilities (40%):

  • Implement and manage AMP’s social media presence
  • Produce and disseminate email newsletter
  • Produce and disseminate press releases, communicate with media, maintain press list
  • Design flyers and advertisements for social media and print
  • Maintain and update the AMP website, including donation page
  • Produce and disseminate surveys for parents, students and stakeholders
  • In collaboration with development team, produce AMP’s annual report
  • In collaboration with AMP program staff, produce programs for all concerts
  • In collaboration with AMP development team, manage and maintain the online merchandise store

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, master’s degree preferred
  • 1 or more years of experience performing similar or related work
  • Knowledge and understanding of orchestral and choral music
  • Knowledge and understanding of non-profit operations
  • Experience in public relations, social media marketing
  • Experience in concert management and/or stage handling
  • Strong public speaker with presentation experience
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Superior organization skills and detail oriented

  • Passion for music as a vehicle for positive social change and desire to work with disadvantaged, urban/rural communities
  • Knowledge of El Sistema and Atlanta Music Project principles
  • Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills in writing and in person
  • Demonstrated leadership ability. Management experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to flawlessly design and execute multi-faceted, simultaneous plans
  • Demonstrated ability to execute successfully under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently without much guidance
  • Ability to find creative solutions to ongoing logistical challenges
  • Willingness to adapt, be flexible and have a sense of humor

Notes: The Operations Manager is a full-time position starting March 20, 2017. Compensation commensurate with experience. Health, dental, vision and benefits included. Generous vacation schedule. MacBook provided. Telecommuting possible. Successful candidate must be available as needed on evenings and weekends. Must be able to lift ten pounds. Must have regular access to a car.
