AMP Performs at Annual State of the City Breakfast

At the invitation of Mayor Andre Dickens, the Atlanta Music Project Youth Orchestra and Choir had the honor of performing the national anthem at the 2023 Annual Mayor’s State of the City Breakfast. The performance was the world premiere of an arrangement of the piece co-written by B.E. Boykin and Nicole Neely.

The event took place at the famous Marriott Marquis, and included many of the city’s business, political and community leaders. Following the Mayor’s entrance with a Brass Band from Benjamin E. Mays High School, the Presentation of Flags, and the Pledge of Allegiance, the room turned its attention to the young musicians of the Atlanta Music Project and conductor B.E. Boykin.

With the event being streamed live on all the city’s news channels and social media, the AMP students delivered a rousing rendition of the the Star Spangled Banner, ending in applause from the over 1,000 attendees.

Thank you to Mayor Andre Dickens, the City of Atlanta, and to all those in attendance for supporting AMP. This opportunity was definitively in line with our mission to empower youth to realize their possibilities through music.
