On June 28, 2010 the Atlanta Music Project announced an online fundraiser on the popular Kickstarter.com. The goal was to raise $15,000 in 70 days to cover the cost of music instruments, sheet music and an African drum and dance residency. The catch was that we had to raise a minimum of $15,000. Anything less and we wouldn’t receive any of the money raised. In the end, 163 donors, known as “backers” on Kickstarter, each pledged amounts ranging from $5 to $2000. On Friday September 3 around noon, we passed $15,000 and by the deadline of Monday September 6 at midnight we had raised $19,055! The fundraiser was a wonderful success and it has enabled us to launch the Atlanta Music Project this fall. Please visit our fundraiser site on Kickstarter for more information!
