Summary of Position

COACHING OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE WITH THE ATLANTA MUSIC PROJECT

In partnership with Carnegie Hall, AMP is currently seeking seasoned music educators to serve as AMP Master Teachers. The Master Teachers would be individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of music education and are now poised to lead AMP Teaching Artists to do the same.  These educators range from elementary school music instructors to college-and professional level orchestral and choral conductors.

One-on-One Coaching: 12 of our most senior teaching artists will receive on-on-one coaching from a master music educator 4 times per year for 1 hour each session. Coaches will provide progress reports to both the teaching artist and AMP senior staff. Coaches will be asked to work with teaching artists on such issues as classroom management, differentiated teaching, pacing and lesson structure.

Conducting: 6 of our Lead Teaching Artists, who typically conduct our large ensembles, will participate in 4 day-long conducting seminars with a professional conductor. The conducting seminars will include classes on conducting technique, rehearsal planning, and several opportunities to practice conducting pieces that will be performed by AMP student ensembles.

The coaching sessions will be scheduled directly between you and the AMP Teaching Artist, and will take place during our regular AMP classes. Each Teaching Artist you work with would receive 4 one-on-one coachings which will each last 1.5 hours: 60 minutes of observation/live feedback and 30 minutes of post-class feedback. You will be paid $50/hr for your time. Coaching sessions may take place during the after school hours from now until May 4, 2018, as well as all-day during the AMP Summer Series from June 3-21, 2018.
