ANNOUNCES AN OPENING FOR

AMP ACADEMY VOICE TEACHING ARTIST

Hourly Position

Starting January 2021

Statement of Job:

In alignment with the Atlanta Music Project (AMP) mission, the AMP Academy Voice Teaching Artist will be responsible for the individual teaching and development of AMP voice students. The AMP Academy provides advanced virtual musical training to AMP’s most talented and dedicated students. AMP Academy students receive a weekly private lesson from an AMP Teaching Artist, perform three recitals per year, perform in masterclasses and complete an annual performance adjudication.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn, understand and represent the AMP philosophies for uplifting youths, families and communities through the pursuit of musical excellence
  • Teach private virtual voice lessons to advanced AMP voice students
  • Choose, prepare and/or arrange appropriate repertoire for private voice lessons
  • Teach private voice lessons as part of the AMP Academy
  • Liaise with parents/families of AMP Academy voice students
  • Coordinate and cooperate with the AMP Chief Program Officer in keeping track of AMP students’ attendance and musical progress
  • Attend peer exchange and professional development workshops
  • Execute additional administrative tasks as necessary

Ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor and/or Master of Music in voice
  • Passion for music as a vehicle for positive social change
  • Exemplary teaching ability in vocal music, including middle school and high school students
  • Exemplary vocal performance ability/experience
  • Experience working (music-related or other) with disadvantaged, urban/rural youth is a plus
  • Ability to inspire, work with and mentor youths
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and be comfortable working in a team
  • Ability to adapt, be flexible and have a sense of humor

Notes: Pay rate is $55/hour. Background check required. Teaching schedule is flexible with virtual lessons being taught via Zoom. Once in-person, lessons will be held at the Atlanta Music Project Center for Performance & Education located at 883 Dill Ave SW Atlanta, GA 30310.
