Matthew A. Richards is a bassist, cellist, and teacher based in the Atlanta Area. Matthew his musical journey on piano in elementary school and began playing the double bass at age 9. Since then, he has developed a passion for music. His passion has brought him to the field of education in the hopes that he can inspire passion in young students as well.
Matthew began studying Music Education at Kennesaw State University in 2011 and completed his Bachelor’s degree in 2016. During that time, he did part-time work for several schools, as well as working for the Kennesaw String Project, an after-school program aimed at young musicians that had no opportunities to join orchestra in school. Shortly after graduating, Matthew worked for a year as the Orchestra teacher at Lindley Sixth Grade Academy. Matthew is also a freelance private double bass and cello teacher.
Matthew hopes to explore his passion for music and student learning through his work with the Atlanta Music Project, and hopes to see himself grow alongside the wonderful students in the program.
