Sakinah A. Davis, DMA is an Atlanta native and proud alumna of the DeKalb School of the Arts and of Spelman College, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Music. She completed her graduate studies in Classical Voice at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, receiving her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 2014.
Sakinah is currently an adjunct professor of music at Spelman College and Clark Atlanta University, a member of the Atlanta Opera and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra choruses, and also works as a world music educational clinician. In addition to these occupations, she has performed frequently with contemporary opera projects such as NANOWorks Opera, Opera Fusion: New Works, Americolor Opera and Atlanta Opera’s “24-Hr Opera” workshop.
Though Sakinah has worked with AMPlify in a number of capacities, this is her first year as a choral teaching artist. She is proud to have been affiliated with the Atlanta Music Project since 2014 and is dedicated to its mission of “music for social change”.
